An institution facing the Madeleine
On Place de la Madeleine, a few minutes' walk from the Concortel, Lucas Carton is one of the great names of Parisian gastronomy. The building was designed in 1839 by the architect Charpentier; in 1860 it became the Taverne de France, the meeting place of fashionable Paris under Napoleon III. In 1924 Francis Carton bought it and added his name: Lucas Carton was born.

The house's treasure is its Art Nouveau woodwork by Louis Majorelle, carved in maple, sycamore and Ceylon lemonwood and protected as a historic monument. Dining here also means stepping into a Belle Époque setting.
From Senderens to Cyril Lignac
From 1985 to 2013, Alain Senderens wrote one of the great chapters of French cuisine here. Bought in June 2026 by Lapérouse Holding (Benjamin Patou and Antoine Arnault), the house reopens on 25 September 2026 with Cyril Lignac in charge of the kitchen, promising indulgent, resolutely classic French cooking. A twist of history: as a young cook, he had sent his application to Alain Senderens.
