Amélie filming locations in Paris: a Montmartre walk
By Rédaction My Sweet Paris · Published 25 September 2026 · Updated 26 September 2026
Amélie's filming locations are mostly in Montmartre: Café des 2 Moulins at 15 rue Lepic, where Amélie works, is a real café, and so is the “Maison Collignon” grocery at 56 rue des Trois-Frères. Allow about two hours on foot. From Hôtel Concortel, metro line 12 takes you to Abbesses in five stops.
Where was Amélie filmed?
According to Wikipedia, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film was shot from 2 March to 7 July 2000 in Paris, in Arcueil and in a studio in Cologne, Germany. Its best-known outdoor scenes were filmed in Montmartre, which in 2001 became the setting of one of French cinema's biggest worldwide hits.
The stops on the Montmartre walk
- Café des 2 Moulins, 15 rue Lepic (Blanche metro): the café where Amélie waits tables. It is a real, working café where you can sit down and order a crème brûlée as a nod to the film.
- The rue des Trois-Frères grocery, at number 56: in real life it is called Au Marché de la Butte. The “Maison Collignon” sign put up for the shoot is still there.
- Square Louise-Michel, below the Sacré-Cœur: the setting of the treasure hunt between Amélie and Nino. Then climb to the basilica's forecourt for the view over Paris.
What about Canal Saint-Martin?
Amélie loves skimming stones there. The canal, in the 10th arrondissement, makes a second walk: its footbridges and locks are lovely in the late afternoon. It is about half an hour by metro from Montmartre.
How do you get there from the Concortel?
From Saint-Lazare station, a few minutes' walk from the hotel, line 12 reaches Abbesses in five stops, in the heart of Montmartre. For the café, get off at Blanche (line 2) instead. On foot, allow about 25 minutes to rue Lepic (estimate).
