By Rédaction My Sweet Paris · Published 1 November 2026
On 1 November, All Saints’ Day, Père-Lachaise Cemetery invites a quiet walk along its autumn paths. Entry is free, with no booking. From Hôtel Concortel, metro line 3 takes you there with no change.
Why visit Père-Lachaise?
It is the largest cemetery in Paris and one of the most famous in the world: a vast, sloping, tree-lined garden where chapels and sculptures tell two centuries of history. People come as much to wander as to pay their respects.
Which famous graves can you find?
- Frédéric Chopin, always covered in flowers.
- Molière and Jean de La Fontaine.
- Alfred de Musset and Honoré de Balzac.
- Jim Morrison, the singer of the Doors.
A map is displayed at the entrances: note the divisions before setting off, as the site is large and hilly.
When to go and how to get there?
Entry is free. On Sundays and public holidays the cemetery opens at 9 am. According to the City of Paris, it closes at 5.30 pm from 6 November to 15 March; check the All Saints’ Day hours on paris.fr. Please be discreet: it is a place of remembrance, especially today. From the Concortel, take line 3 at Havre-Caumartin or Saint-Lazare to Père-Lachaise or Gambetta, with no change.
